2024 Ford Expedition Timberline Changes, Interior, Engine – Ford refreshes the look and feels of the Expedition for 2024 with new exterior and interior trim, standard and optional amenities, and more. Changes to the front end are more visible, but the inside also has a unique dashboard style, similar to the revised Ford F-150 pickup truck. The interior of the Expedition has been updated with higher-quality materials, and the infotainment system has been upgraded with a standard 12.0-inch touchscreen and an available 15.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen. Additionally, the Ford Platinum now comes standard with Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving technology.
The Limited trim level of the regular-wheelbase Expedition is the sweet spot between the two extremes. The new Timberline model’s rugged good looks are accentuated by its higher riding height and 33-inch all-terrain tires. The Limited grade now has access to the new Stealth Performance option, which adds a stealthier look, a sport-tuned suspension, and a more potent version of the twin-turbo V-6. It has some nice extras like leather seats, a Bang & Olufsen sound system, and power-operated running boards. It also has an attractive performance package that promises to improve the truck handle.
2024 Ford Expedition Redesign
When it comes to the general form of a full-size SUV, there is little room for customization. To give a full-size truck or SUV a unique appearance, designers must focus on the grille, headlights, fenders, and taillights. The Expedition has a very boxy profile, with a single character line from the front to the back. The back of the car is not very interesting. It has two standard taillights and a chrome band with the Expedition logo.
Ford puts its design faith in its front end and alloys to carry the load. The combination of the grille and headlights is quite effective. Halogen headlights are standard on lower-end vehicles compared to the full LEDs on the King Ranch and Platinum trims. The wheels can be as little as 18 inches or as large as 22 inches. Side rails for the roof rack come standard in black and can be upgraded to stone grey or bright chrome on higher trims. A panoramic sunroof is an option starting with the XLT trim and comes standard on the King Ranch and Platinum.
It is anticipated that the 2024 Ford Expedition would retain its interior design, with the addition of the 15.5-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen from the Ford Mustang Mach-e as an available extra. With this revision, the Ford Expedition’s interior will get a facelift; otherwise, you can count on each trim level’s standard amenities to remain the same. Depending on the model, the Ford Expedition may accommodate up to eight people.
As you move through the model levels, you’ll have access to luxuries like heated power-adjustable seats, tri-zone temperature control, and leather upholstery with distinctive stitching. Standard features include power-adjustable front row seats, cloth upholstery, and tri-zone temperature control. The Ford Expedition’s cabin gives its three rows of seats, especially the second and third, the most space possible. The 2024 Expedition will have a total cargo volume of 20.9 cubic feet with all three rows in use.
The 2024 Expedition is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with dual turbocharging, mated to a quick-shifting 10-speed automatic gearbox, and is available with rear-or all-wheel drive. On regular versions, the engine produces 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque; on Limited models, those figures rise to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet. With the Stealth Performance option, the output increases to 440 horsepower and 510 pound-feet of torque on the Timberline and Limited. We haven’t tried out either of those powertrains, but we have driven a Platinum model with a 400-horsepower twin-turbo V-6.
The independent rear suspension standard on all Expeditions significantly improved over the live-axle systems seen on competing models from Chevrolet and GMC. Though the passengers will appreciate the smooth ride, the driver will be hindered by the vehicle’s clumsy handling and vague steering. While the longer Expedition Max has a towing capacity of 9000 pounds, the Expedition is rated to pull up to 9300 pounds.
2024 Ford Expedition Release Date and Price
The XL STX, a new model with respectable specs that retails for $50,595, has replaced the XL, which was previously reserved for fleet use. The base price of an XLT model is $53,410, while the top-of-the-line Limited model will set you back $62,175. With a starting price of $73,335, the King Ranch is another model with a significant price hike. The base price of a Timberline Spec model is $74,375. Ford’s $1,695 destination charge is not included in these prices. Adding the 4×4 system to any model will increase the price by $3,050.
