2024 Ford Ranger Engine, Interior, Cost – The global origins of the new Ranger are evident in how it appears. Its body is upright and practical like a pickup should be, but its nose skips the “power bar” attached to larger Ford F-Series pickups, and its windshield has a steeper slope. The 2.3-liter engine from Ford is an excellent powerplant. Both the standard Mustang and the crazy Focus RS were powered by it. It has a wide range of skills, depending on how you tune it. It produces 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque in the Ranger. The performance potential was a nice bonus, but the primary goal was to give it some low-down grunt.
Some may think it’s a mistake because it’s not available with a manual transmission. However, the automatic transmission makes more sense given this vehicle’s primary uses. When off-roading or towing, changing gears is less to worry about. Although that’s hardly the purpose of a pickup, the Ranger can be a little reluctant to downshift when in Sport mode. The Ranger’s powerplant feels more than capable in other situations, like driving down the highway or hauling a load.
