Ford T3: The Next-Gen Electric Truck Coming in 2025 – Ford’s hit pickup truck, the F-150 Lightning, is the first electric form of the truck that has sold the most units. The Blue Oval isn’t sitting on its laurels, though. They are already working on a second version of electric trucks that will come out in 2025. The new truck, codenamed Project T3, will be smaller, more fuel-efficient, and cheaper than the F-150 Lightning. It will go up against the Tesla Cybertruck, the Rivian R1T, and the GMC Hummer EV. This is what we know about the Ford T3 electric truck now.
Design: Exterior and Interior
There will be something bold and future about the Ford T3 electric truck that will make it stand out from the other Ford trucks. It will be smaller than the F-150 Lightning, but it will still have a lot of room for people and things. It’s likely to have a large bed with a power door and a built-in ramp, as well as a frunk (front trunk) for extra storage. The truck will also have bumpers, side mirrors, and a full-width LED light bar in the front and back.
The Ford T3 electric truck’s cabin will be sleek and modern, with a big tablet for entertainment and a digital collection of gauges. A Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Ford’s SYNC 4A software will also be built into the truck. There will be improved safety and driver-assist features inside, like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot tracking, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic emergency braking, and more. The truck will also come with a Bang & Olufsen sound system and a panoramic sunroof that can be added.
Powertrain
The Ford T3 electric truck will need a different platform than the F-150 Lightning, built on a body-on-frame design that has been changed from the F-150. It will be more fuel-efficient and faster because the T3 will use a base made just for electric vehicles. The truck will have two motors, giving it all-wheel drive and fast acceleration. A system that can change to different road conditions and driving modes will also be built into the truck.
The Ford T3 electric truck’s battery pack will be called IonBoost+. It is a better version of the IonBoost battery in the F-150 Lightning. It is expected that the IonBoost+ battery will hold more energy and last longer than the IonBoost battery. An EPA-estimated standard-range battery will give the truck a range of more than 300 miles, and an EPA-estimated extended-range battery will give the truck a range of more than 400 miles. The truck can also be charged quickly at up to 150 kW, which means it can get up to 80% charged in about 30 minutes.
Release Date and Price
The BlueOval City complex in Stanton, Tennessee, will begin making the Ford T3 electric truck in the middle of 2025. Here is a brand-new building that Ford is constructing just for making electric cars. The development will cover 3,600 acres and have jobs for about 6,000 people. There will also be a battery plant on the site that makes the IonBoost+ batteries for the T3 and other Ford electric vehicles in the future.
The Ford T3 electric truck won’t be available until late 2025 or 2026. Its price hasn’t been set yet, but it’s likely to start at around $40,000. The F-150 Lightning begins at $39,974 for the business-focused Pro model and $52,974 for the consumer-focused XLT model. This would make it less expensive than that. The Tesla Cybertruck ($39,900–$69,900), the Rivian R1T ($67,500–$75,000), and the GMC Hummer EV ($79,995–$112,595) would all cost more than the T3.
There are a lot of exciting new electric pickups, and the Ford T3 is one of them. It will have a unique look, work well, have a long range, and be reasonably priced. Ford’s extensive network of dealers and excellent customer service will also help it. Ford wants to make 2 million electric vehicles (EVs) a year by 2026, up from 600,000 by the end of 2022. The T3 is part of their big plan to make EVs.
